Castle of the Marquis of Los Vélez.

It is located in the town of Vélez-Blanco in the province of Almería and is an emblematic example of the Spanish Renaissance style. This architectural complex was commissioned to be built by the first Marquis of Los Vélez, D. Pedro Fajardo, to make it the center of his domains in Almeria and in the seat of a small court, in the likeness of the uses and customs adopted by the Castilian nobility of high rank in those times. From the outside it is perceived as a fortress, but in its interior its structure adapts to turn it into an elegant stately palace.

Castillo de Los Velez

The majestic Castle of Los Vélez is considered one of the most attractive in Spain. Its construction begins in 1,506 on the remains of the old Arab citadel. With a Gothic structure, it soon changed to the Renaissance style, a symbol of modernity at that time and of the humanism of the Spanish aristocracy of those times.
