Church of Santo Domingo.- Convento de Santo Domingo .-Almería
They were the Catholic Kings who after the taking of the city ordered the construction of the Convent of Santo Domingo, but until the year 1494 the endowment for its construction was not received.
The cloister of the same one constructed in Century XVIII in what at the present time is the School of Arts and Offices of Almeria is conserved. The Church of Santo Domingo, annexed to the convent, was built in the second half of the sixteenth century. In Almeria it is popularly known as the "Sanctuary of the Patroness", since inside it the image of the Virgin of the Sea, who is the Patron of Almería is preserved. The image was found on December 21, 1502. The two covers that we can admire today belong to the S XIX.
